The 8th has a long and fascinating history, beginning with the founding of the group in 1915. Recently, there have been multiple projects delving into the 8th's vast past; from creating an expansive photo archive and renovating the museum in the HQ, to making the centenary documentary (which can be viewed below) and receiving grant funding to preserve the logbooks (also below).
You can view a selection of images from the photo archive on this page, read '60 Years with the 8th' here, or scroll through a brief timeline of the group's history with the interactive below.
If you are an ex-member of the group, you can request to join the 8th Darlington Scouts alumni Facebook page for even more information about the group's history.
History
eHive Archive
Here is the 100+ year archive collection of the 8th Darlington Scout Group. It includes a range of logbooks, registers and the historical information that describes our long journey as a busy and popular Scout Group.
Thanks go to the Marc Fitch Fund for providing a grant to digitise some of our collection and to The Leslie Sell Charitable Trust for providing a grant for preservation material and a subscription to the eHive database.
100 Years with the 8th
As part of our 100th Anniversary in 2015, the Senior Troop created a film documenting the events we did to celebrate our centenary, the group’s history, and what each section had been up to in that year.

The film was premiered at the Den on Wednesday 4th May 2016.
