Scouts Ages 11-15

The Scout section is aimed at young people between the ages of 11-15. The programme is designed around a mixture of learning, games and outdoor activities - including camping and cooking on open fires - that encourage youngsters to work in a team as well as on their own.

Every year, Scouts will get the opportunity to go on four weekend camps and a week-long summer camp, where they learn essential camping skills.

Summer Camp is a highlight, featuring activities like boat trips, wildlife park visits, swimming, and hiking. Scouts work towards various badges while enjoying games, campfires, and plenty of outdoor fun.

Every November, the Carl Milner Cooking Competition challenges Scouts to showcase their culinary talents.

The Scouts meet at 7-9pm on a Thursday.

Scout uniform costs approx. £8.50 for a t-shirt and approx. £12 for a sweatshirt (both size depending).

About

Camping is a cornerstone of the Scouting programme. Over the course of five camps a year, Scouts get the opportunity to hike, swim, gadget build, sleep under canvas, cook over open fires, and much more.

Our camps take place on various sites around the north east - including Thirsk, Middleton St George and Hexham.

Camp Kitchens

Menu

Most camp meals are cooked over an open fire in a patrol's kitchen. The menu provides for a balanced diet and ensures Scouts have enough energy.

Camp favourites include bacon sandwiches, eggy bread, corned beef hash, tuna pasta, pancakes and camp soup! We also make sure we can cater for vegetarians and people with gluten free diets.
